MY PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION
I have a progressive philosophy of education. All students can and will learn in my classroom. However, not all of my students will learn the same. I need to use a variety of instructional strategies to engage my students in the classroom. I will be a culturally responsive teacher that brings the different perspectives of my students to the classroom. I believe that teachers need to create a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensure that students are meeting performance objectives. Checking for understanding is an important process that guarantees I am allowing my students to grow and develop. I believe that the classroom should be student-centered. I will create activities that facilitate audio, visual, and kinetic learners. I want to be a reflective teacher and also encourage my students to be reflective scholars. An open line of communication is key to a positive learning environment. Not only do I want to have communication with my students, but also with their parents and guardians. I feel that every aspect of the lives of my students can aide in creating a safe and comforting classroom.
